    Nope. You miss the mark again :rolleyes: Not all punishments are meant as deterrents. Some punishments, believe it or not, are just that---punishment for a crime commited. And btw, it is a proven fact that in many, if not MOST cases, the criminalization of an act will decrease it's occurence. :n00b:

    Agreed. But deterrant effect does not mean prevents. His question was, "If it was "illiegal" why did he do it?"

    That's really easy to answer. Because he wanted to.

    I'm not sure what the purpose of criminalizing something would be if not for the deterrent effect, and furthermore, I'm not aware of anything that is illegal merely as a punishment and not as a deterrent.
