Saw it this morning on Yahoo news, and grinned ear to ear! Awesome! As for all the Lib's that are crying out about how it makes everyone in jeopardy, or somehow lessens the ability of the SS to protect POTUS; I say horse-shiite! If they would focus less on innocent citizens, that are breaking no laws, and in no way, shape, or form inciting any sort of mayhem - and just do their jobs (as they always do), then there will be no incidents. Hmmmmmm...... people were there with guns, and not a ONE of them tried to shoot the place up? WOW! I guess that guns aren't evil afterall........ not a single gun there (that was visible) magically came to life and went on a rampage! :D:ar15:

Just curious, but while this is legal in Arizona . . .

Is it legal to openly carry a RIFLE in Indiana?

Follow up question, must it be unloaded or can it be loaded?

Our carry licenses are for HANDGUNS and do not include, at least the way I read them, long arms. So if it is legal to walk down the street with an AR15 as you go about your day, what law supports that right?

I had a very interesting experience carrying an unloaded AR15 out of a gunshop, down the block and to my car. All the reaction was positive, but that particular AR was one of my daughter's pink guns and the gun was not loaded. I was simply taking it home from the shop after testing out some stuff.

"The Secret Service must be wondering if this is going to become a trend"

    from the fox news report
    "
Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said armed demonstrators in open-carry states such as Arizona and New Hampshire have little impact on security plans for the president."

    :patriot:

Anywhere, anytime. I'll have my AR on my back and my glock on my side. I'll keep the INGO stuff at home if that's the wishes of the forum and dress nice for the event. I won't say much as there's not much OCing a rifle and pistol isn't going to say by itself.

Do you recall the Mmoja Ajabu trial?

They were carrying shotguns all around and onto the steps of (Hamilton Cty?) Courthouse.

For people with a man making open death threats against officials, I'd say it must be legal if they let him and his type do that in full view and on TV.

Armed presence at Ajabu murder trial.

    Recorder Staff Report

Black Panther Militia members, one of whom carried a shotgun, accompanied the family of Kofi Ajabu to the St. Joseph County Courthouse in South Bend, Ind., Monday, for jury selection in the 22-year-old's murder trial. The trial was to have begun Thursday, Aug. 17.

Ajabu's father and former Black Panther Commander Mmoja Ajabu said members were there for support only.

Militia members were very cooperative and orderly, and no incidents with the weapon occurred, according to St. Joseph Sheriff's Department personnel. Although the weapon was kept outside the courthouse at all times, ...

A front page article in the March 6, 1993, Indianapolis Star reported that Mmoja Ajabu has revived the revolutionary Black Panther organization. In 1968, at the height of its strength and influence, this armed revolutionary group was described by FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover as the "single greatest threat to the internal security of the United States." The Panthers, armed with unconcealed, loaded shotguns, confronted police who patrolled black neighborhoods and demanded civil rights and social programs for black Americans. Ajabu, citing similar goals in his revived Black Panthers organization, said, "If all you're going to do is to beg them [the government] to stop, then that's not going to stop the killing. That's why our main focus is to build an army. "We know we're talking about death and destruction and grief in a whole lot of people's families. But only then will they come to the negotiating table and talk candidly about getting something done.

"We're sick and tired of bearing the brunt of all the bad this society has to offer." According to Mmoja Ajabu, there's nothing illegal about the Black Panthers' attempts to secure equal rights through military tactics. "A militia is legal under the U.S. Constitution's Bill of Rights. It gives the people the right to bear arms and form militias," Ajabu says confidently. "Everything we're doing is legal. The U.S. Constitution gives people the right to overthrow the government if it's not of the people, by the people, and for the people." Interestingly, the ATF and FBI have not raided and assaulted the Black Panther headquarters, the home of its leader, or the homes of its members. Neither has the government questioned or criticized the beliefs that motivate and move them to action.

This is not to suggest or recommend that the government should raid and assault any of the above-referenced groups. It should not. It is simply to point out that the beliefs and activities of David Koresh and the Branch Davidians are a far cry from the above-mentioned groups which have not been attacked by the government and continue to function with impunity and without interference from the government.

Quannel X restrained by police at rally in Jasper, Texas.
In June 1998, Muhammad led a group of fifty NBPP followers to Jasper, Texas - including a dozen carrying shotguns and rifles - to "protect" the streets in the wake of the racial murder of James Byrd Jr. Byrd, a forty-nine-year-old African American, who was beaten and fatally dragged behind a pickup truck down a rural road by three white supremacists. In response to a rally organized by Klansmen in the small town two weeks later, Muhammad and his followers, many wearing black berets like the original Panthers, showed up to counter demonstrate. When members of the NBPP tried and failed to get past police separating them from the Klan, Muhammad told his cadre, "Black people, we can take these bastards…We can run over the damn police and take their ***. Who's with me?" There were several minor scuffles between supporters on both sides and two arrests were made.

Lets do this. Lets pick a weekend and host an OC march. Pick a central city, get a pre-meeting set up, pick some select "security" people, a spokesman if need be, and talking points for those we encounter. We'll need printed copies of the carry laws and everyone will need to have a carry license if you will OC a pistol and it'll have to be shown ahead of time. Also, buisness casual or street casual clothing. No "Death to Socialism" or Muh Truck is better than your electric scooter" shirts. No signs. Maybe some flags.

Cmon guys. PM me if you want to do this and we'll do it. Even if it's only a handful of us at a time.

What works well (from current media examples):

    1. Well dressed.
    2. Calm.
    3. Articulate.
    4. Personable.

What does not (from other examples):

    1. Not so well dressed.
    2. Excitable.
    3. Furblunged (Yiddish for all tonguetied and confused under stress).
    4. Irritable with jerk reporters.

If you want to do this, you need some people with the first set of attributes, but because this is the internet all you know is how well someone can use the spell checker and how articulate they can be in their living room.

How are you going to find and then select for success?

(Question sent from gun owner closet #3384b  )

But seriously, how will you select?

I do. And now I gots me a G19! :D I's a baaaaaad man! Besides. The Glock is evil and has a mind of it's own. It may even blow up or jump out my holster and flip out. Gotta get it used to people since it's been a safe queen all it's life!

OK is there any law that restricts Openly Carrying a RIFLE in Indiana in public?

Which brings about my question earlier, is it legal to openly carry a rifle in Indiana in public?

You can ride down the hiway with it strapped to your back on a motorcycle. You can Carry it anywhere it's legal to have a firearm on your person. You can have it with your green eggs and ham... Oh, wait, uh, my bad... :):

    Yes. (or in private.)

    Openly. (or concealed.)

    Loaded. (or unloaded.)

    ;)

    Yups. :patriot:

what kind of hair splitting or joke making are you looking at?
I mean YES it is LEGAL.

    (For YOU even)

Well, maybe not for you, but for me. But not for you. They don't like you. Or Melen. Or the mods. The mods can't carry neither. It's in the IC. Right there. See it? I see it. I wrote it. :D

Sorry, couldn't help myself. Need my cup 'o wake-me-up-and-kick-me-in-da-butt this morning. Seems someone drank all the coffee....
