As some of you might recall me mentioning a time or two, in 2008 I underwent treatment for papillary thyroid cancer. 2013 marks the 5-year follow-up procedure, which starts with an ultrasound of the neck.
It was scheduled and completed this morning. At 5:30 this evening my doctor calls me at home. (My doctor never calls me personally.) Uh-oh. I have abnormal lymph nodes and need a biopsy to determine if the cancer has spread.
Metastasis is greater than 50% in papillary cases, so despite my doc's attempts to reassure me that this is probably nothing--that's what they all said with the original ultrasound showing the massES on the thyroid, I'm not really a happy camper right now.
And quite frankly, scared ****less.
