So this is just a fun fact...

Blockbuster had the opportunity to purchase Netflix in 2000 for $50 million, but declined.

    In 2013, Blockbuster shuttered.

Today, Netflix is the 55th most valuable brand in the world, trading at $350+ a share, with a market cap of $150+ billion and 125 million subscribers.

Should go down as one of the biggest company mistakes in history.

It's #5... #1 is mind-boggling. Like just off the top floor of a skyscraper mistake.

Of course, this assumes Blockbuster would have had the vision and fortitude to allow Netflix to grow to what it is today.

Blockbuster may have only been interested in acquiring Netflix because it was a direct threat to their business model and they wanted to shut it down. But it most likely involved some degree of hubris on the part of Blockbuster execs, underestimating just how much of a disruption the Netflix model would be to the home video industry.

Yeah, that's true... no guarantee the company would have proceeded upon the exact same successful route if acquired by Blockbuster.

Say they bought Netflix. If blockbuster lacked foresight and hadn’t developed that as the future business model, someone would have.

Blockbuster’s problem was that they didn’t understand the internet, that streaming was the future of movie distribution.

Much the same as traditional news media, who don’t understand that crowdsourcing is the future of news distribution. They still think they’re the gatekeepers of news.

    [STRIKE]Social Media[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Smartphones[/STRIKE] The Internet was a Mistake.
Well hell. I’m just old fashioned I guess, but it seems to me that if you get to know a guy before ****ing him, you might know how he’s going to react to finding out you’re not a virgin.

    A virgin? On Tinder?...

    #1 Well, obviously.

#2 A helpful hint for you little leaguers- if a guy you have never met is concerned about finding out whether you are a virgin, he's a creep. Maybe not a killer, but a creep.

....but then again, you're on Tinder, so I guess that's the pond you've chosen to fish in.

Reminds me of a coworker years ago. He had been through a very bitter divorce. This was before the internet. He complained to me one day that just couldn't find someone he wanted to start a long term relationship with. I suggested he start looking in the places where women he’d want to be with would hang out. He replied, “I’ve tried all the pickup bars.”

Huh. And you say you can’t find the kind of woman you want to be with at a pickup bar? Yeah. That’s really odd. Seems like that would be the exact place to find anlong term relationship.
