The fiberglass-ish nature of the polymer they use holds up better to abuse than phenolic resin and bakelite. I cringe at the thought of knocking one of my sexy Izmash plum or bakelite mags out of the rifle with another mag, and letting it smack the floor.
FWIW, I've started knocking mags out on emergency reloads with a flagged thumb holding the new magazine. Saves more wear and tear on the magazines and the latch (but not so much for your thumb). In some ways it is more natural because I have a better ideal where my thumb is spatially than the end of the mag at times. Picked it up from Travis Haley's Adaptive Kalash, although Sonny Puzikas may have mentioned it too in BTF2/Fighting with the AK. Sonny does make the point when slapping mags out, go at more of a 30-45 degree upward angle to make it more effective and use the weight of the rifle to help rock the new one in (he doesn't necessarily "break it down into the workspace").

Here's the AK-104, sorry for the crappy pic quality with these quick snapshots. I'll try to get better soon along with its bag system (Emdom TNT GYM-E Bag):

Not sure if my WASR 10/63 deserves to be in the same thread as some of the other beauty's posted . I was a little late to the AK party. Maybe in the future I can upgrade to something nicer.

Your WASR is just fine; don't let AK snobs mess with your fun. For me, the WASR 10/63GP, as long as it's hand-picked, is a very underrated AK variant. I have several of them and they're good shooters and I've had zero issues with them. Here's two of my 10/63 GP's. One is Krylon green with black duracoat, AK rubber buttpad, and a green Hogue grip, the other is stained with Minwax Cherry Oak, with 9 coats of linseed oil on top. The metal is brown duracoat with a black Hogue grip.
