I don't hear many people calling this out. They were essentially resigned to the fact that the Afgan government and military would collapse into itself at some point soon.

That's the part they were right about. The Taliban won't control the country either, or even all of the people claiming to be Taliban. This is a return to tribalism, and that's not real good for us since that leaves much of the land essentially stateless. That's what let AQ and others set up shop there to begin with.

I see this debacle as further evidence that the election was rigged. Sure, a lot of Americans were duped by the media into thinking of the election as a popularity contest, but I have to believe that the idea that the majority of Americans voted in an obvious moron is not possible. There are a lot of dumb Americans but I have to believe that we we are smarter than this as a whole.

Even Biden probably didn't realize Biden could be this pants-on-head moronic. I mean, you can know someone's a moron without expecting them to be *this* moronic.

This dude is to morons what the captain of the Titanic is to boating accidents.

Is it possible that this situation clearly illustrates just how untenable the current political system is? How many people believe that the govt in place gives a rat’s ass for them?

Or that people of other cultures just dont care about liberty and personal freedoms like we do? We had 20 years to convince the population that freedom was cool. We pull out and within days they effectively say "nah, bro".

The book that told about how first world governments use corporations to get their way with third world governments. Hmm, or was it how corporations use the militaries of first world governments to make third world governments surrender their resources? Sometimes it gets hard to tell the difference.

But it really hasn't changed much at all since US Marine General Bulter (1888-1940) published his expose' in 1935.

A good read.....There is nothing new under the sun.

This is about factions having different plans for the future of the US, about involvement in the economic and political affairs of the center of the world island, the new silk road...
Afghanistan has been about whether or not US based power gets to play a major role or else we continue down the path of being a colonial source of natural resources.
Trying to keep a place at the table certainly has cost us a lot of blood and treasure.

bidet has been living his entire adult life in an unaccountable political bubble...
People are really shocked a lifetime politician is a failure when asked to lead?
    Really?
    ****ing really?
I seem to remember that in the years leading up to the 2016 election people were clamoring for a President who wasn't a career politician. Trump gets elected and the whole thing does a 180 that he has no experience, the world will eat him up, and we need someone in there who has years in politics who understands how to lead. Well, we now have someone at the top spot who has decades of political experience, who can't find his way out of a wet paper bag with one end open.
