it's very probable that we have red wolves / coywolves in Indiana by now. The were spreading west from PA more than 10 years ago.

Can confirm. We did a bear hunt in Idaho a few years ago and bought wolf tags. The guide said he hoped we'd take a couple as they are awful for the Elk and Mule Deer populations. We didn't see any on that hunt but we found signs of where a pack moved thru after we'd killed a black bear.
