I am more than a little amused that so many people think we apparently have had such a great slate of candidate in the past.
We HAVE has some great candidates, not really great nominees. But this year is special because ALL parties had their pick of some really great candidates that represent their constituents pretty well... and the voters chose the WORST POSSIBLE candidate from the field in every instance!

I never meant that they were GOOD, but that they represented their constituency well. Sanders would have been the obvious choice for Democrats, had they voted based on their values. But the people intentionally chose the candidate that most disgusts their political opponents.

All the complaints about Hillary and the Donald....you'd think that every other election was a choice between saints, not the lesser of two evils.

Perspective. Every election I can remember was contested between flawed candidates. I suspect the rampant tribalism of the electorate is the real difference here.

I thought GHWB was a good man and a decent leader. I thought he was a much better candidate than what we got and in the long run was proven right. In that case, one was the devil and one was a saint lol

If you believe the hacked emails, the DNC had their nominee picked well before anyone threw their hat in the ring, making the primaries a sham.

Not all were identifiable. Not many would be willing to run up against the Clinton machine.

I posit that anyone who could do a really good job will never run, because you have to become a douche bag to get into a position to be nominated.

Your tax forms, your gimpy leg, you ran over my puppy in 9th grade, muh social security... Who wants to deal with that ****?

I'll be curious after the election to see what happens to the " professional campaign" industry if Trump wins. Television changed a lot about how campaigns were run after the Nixon/Kennedy debates.

Sanders is a socialist, the youth that has been brought up being given everything and the entitled would have loved him and the "Democrat" voters would have voted in lockstep for the nominee. He was not a democrat.

The voters chose trump because he is not a politician. They will vote for him and he may win. Run the country, yeah I think that running the country like a business may work. The problem is that from Nov 9, he will be run down by the media every news broadcast, every day, every night and every special broadcast they can throw in between for the entire time he is in office.

I'm reading postings on Facebook as to how terrible Trump was last night and how Hillary was so dignified and presidential. There are many millions of brainwashed Americans who will actually vote for her. It is amazing to me how they can support this social elitist criminal. We could have a very unpleasant four years coming. How much tyranny can we handle?

Well, it's kinda hard to disagree with that assessment.
