They are in my house anyway. LM keep your AR. Keep your Glocks. At least a G17 or 19 and a smaller G43 or G26. Whichever fits you best and you shoot best. But hard to beat a service sized and compact Glock for so everything reliability. Save up and buy yourself a 1911 in 9mm. Something like a Springfield RO. Have the mouse love on it a bit. Enjoy a hour cool range toy.

I read a great review on the new RO Operator 9mm today. Interesting.

I can tell you my household owns twice as many 9mm 1911s as 45 acp. 9mm is a hoot to shoot at half the price.

The pleasure of shooting a 9mm 1911 is undeniable. It's about like shooting a .22LR, but a 9mm projectile is thwapping the target! Plus, you get 2 more rounds than .45ACP.

On the other hand, a guy's first 1911 should probably be a .45ACP, just so he can get that part of his Man Card endorsed.

After my spouse switched up from the CZ SP01 Phantom I built for her (Full Cajun pack.) to the commander length 1911 as she just likes the fit, I picked up a Fusion 9mm 1911 commander bob tail for her. It is a tack driver and since I put a comp barrel in it that thing runs like a .22

There is the man card issue.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I picked up a LadyHawk in 9mm for myself. Carried it yesterday to a Sophia the First themed birthday party for my niece. When you are an internet bad@$$ like me you can get by with such things.

9 is nice, but for me, there is something so satisfying about the smooth 45 recoil as you are firing. 9 is great for defense and cheap to shoot, but my 45 makes the entire day and week just seem not as crappy.

I really need to add a 9mm 1911 to the family. I'd love to add a 38 Super but don't want to add yet another caliber to reload for. What I'd really like to find would be a good 10mm or even .40 Commander sized 1911. The only 10mm Commander I know of is an RIA and as reliable as they may be, they just don't do it for me lately. Dan Wesson needs to build a CCO or Commander sized all stainless 1911 in 10mm. Just for me.

Those who know me are aware I was anti-9mm especially in the 1911. It just seemed, well, wrong.
Now with the influences of many great Ingo people I own 3 9's and 1 of them is a 1911. The other 2 are CZ's.

My guess is STI makes a .40. Not sure about commander sized. Getting a .40 1911 to run can be a little tricky. For a 10mm commander talk to someone like AlllenM and see if he can piece one together for you.

That's probably the best, as well as only, route to go to get into a compact 10mm 1911. I might have to talk to him next spring when the house refresh is winding down.

You didn't ask me, but I would hesitate to buy a 1911 in .40 unless I were a pistolsmith and/or I was intending to load the ammo longer than factory specs. I've seen very few .40 1911s that functioned well without a lot of work. A 10mm would be a lot less trouble and if you could always load your ammo to .40 specs if you wanted.

    A good 1911 in .45acp cures erectile dysfunction. A 1911 in 9mm is just a teaser.
Glad you .. boys .. like the 9mm 1911. My GF's 5 yr old little sister loves the 1911 in 9mm as well.
