So very very nice. :yesway: Any history about it that you'd care to share?

I don't know a ton, but I'd be glad to share what I do know.

In WWII, he was a small arms instructor, as well as an MP. This Colt was his issues sidearm, as well as the gun he used to teach small arms qualifying. He opted to purchase it before returning home from I believe Switzerland. After the war, it went back and forth to work with him (Morris Printing Company in Indianapolis, the family business) daily.

He gave it to me this Christmas, it's been his HD gun, but he's getting up there in years (86), and he finds it harder to work the slide, so he's switching to an easier to handle gun, which just happens to be a S&W Model 29. :):

I've taken it apart, cleaned it up, lubed it up, and he and I have put 50 rounds or so through it. If anything, it's more accurate then my Springfield Loaded.

I'll be totally honest, I don't know much about the particular details of the gun, I keep meaning to go on the 1911 forums to find out some identifying info. If anyone is a 1911A1 pro around here and lets me know what to look for, I can maybe figure it out.

Very cool. That's a nice family heirloom there. :yesway: First thing I'd probably do is look up the serial number to see when it was made, stuff like that.

So, I asked my wife if she wanted to post some gun porn of her new RIA 1911A1 GI model. These are what the smart alec came back with. She says they combine three of her favorite things: Guns, cooking, and the bedroom.

My borther's newest 1911. He is a Vietnam era vet who just had to win this bid at the Colt auction last month... Lucky him.

    Sorry for the crappy quality!

By the way, have any of you seen a left hand twist barrel!? Mine is, and i've NEVER seen one before. What research I have done, and what I have found, I can't find anything on direction of twist, I can find the rate, but nothing else! If you know something, please let me know!
