Picked up a rare 38 Super Detonics Combat Master today, completes the set as Detonics made the Combat Master MK VI in 4 calibers. Most common is the 45acp, the majority of the production was that caliber. Then in very limited quantities they made the gun in 9mm, 38 Super and 451 Detonics Magnum. I have no way of confirming production numbers but I'd suspect that there are less than 75 each in existence in 9mm and 38 Super. Probably a bit more than 100 were made in 451 Detonics Magum.

Starting on the lower left going up to the upper right:
    • 451 Detonics Magnum
    • 45acp
    • 38 Super
    • 9mm

Great find! Collection looks spectacular. What's your impression of the 451 Detonics Magnum?

Thanks I've been working on completing this set for several years. I've got a couple dozen Combat Masters, every one is different, but this is the first "complete" set I have finished.

I've actually never shot the 451 Detonics Magnum. The gun I have in that caliber is part of a 2 barrel, cased set that includes brass, a Zero Haliburten briefcase, etc. Its NEW/UNFIRED. I'm not going to fire that gun.

But from what I understand the Combat Master is the WRONG GUN to fire a 451 Magnum out of as the gun is so small the round is supposed to not only beat up the shooter but also beat up the gun. Combat Masters are actually smaller than Colt Officer models. Now in a full size gun the round is probably a bit easier to handle, I believe its slightly less powerful than a 460 Rowland.

Those are very slick looking pieces. Maybe one day I will have a "Beautiful" 1911 to show the world, until then I have to allow people to view my RIA FS 1911.

Springfield Loaded from the late 90's (bought Jan of 09 in really good shape). It's my carry gun until my other Loaded shows up from Miller Custom.

    I added:
    10-8 .140" rear
    EGW OS FPS
EGW Custom ordered thick flange bushing
EGW spring plug (not in the pic)
    S&A Slim line magwell

I've got a Springfield GI 5" and a Springfield GI 4" LW, but they're boring to look at so I won't bother with the pics of them.

    Here's a recent photo.

Someday, I'll get some work done to it. Look close enough and you can see the real idiot mark. Some people shouldn't be allowed near firearms.

1911 Colt WW2 Commemorative edition. All battle sites of european theatre are engraved on it with oak leaves. Bought it from a fellow Ingo member. Built in 1970 and appears to have never been fired.
