So I've just started looking into 1911's. I might be what you called a novice to the platform. I've always admired them, but other than handling/shooting other people's, my knowledge ends there. I have a friend beating me up to take a look at colts. He has a thing for the pony, which is fine, but I don't seem to see much love for them from 1911 guys. Is it like there ar-15's, where for years you bought an $800 rifle with a $500 pony on the side? Your lack of colt pictures seems like a hint. Or do they fall in with the sigs and smiths, maybe kimbers? I had been thinking SA, given another friends advice and Churchmouses affinity for them. Now it seems for another $300 I could just get a valor and most likely have all the gun I'll ever want. Oh, and that is an amazing collection.

Come shoot my 1911's.
Shoot others if you can. When you know what to look for you will find what you like.
Good idea on the Valor.
Not wanting to knock the Marque but you are correct in your assumptions about the pony. Now the older 70 series was not to bad.
OOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo. Daddy Really Like. Lots.
