For what it's worth, I was one of those threads. It was my first shield so I had 100% failure rate. I have bought two more so now I only have a 33% failure rate. Things are looking up! :rockwoot:
edit... forgot if we are talking M&P I also bought a FS 9 so I guess I am down to 25% failure rate!

Just an update to anyone interested...
S&W stated that they believe the gun did not malfunction and that their best guess was an over charged round. They offered to replace the gun at a reduced rate. After discussing the possibility of just having them send the gun back to me so...
I have one. It's basically only been carried a couple times when its just not convenient to carry something better. I bought it at a show several years ago on a whim. When I took my wife shooting a few weeks ago she shot the P32 and then a couple of small .40 cal that I had including a...
I hear ya. I am avoiding it because I am trying to hold on to one of my favorite authors. Knowing too much personal information on a public figure always ruins them for me.
It's the same way with sports stars. For me its hard to avoid following these people on twitter and once I do these...
I received the email today with shipping instructions. It specifically states not to send any live ammunition in the package. I guess I will include a picture of what I posted a long with the letter I have to include and if they ask for it to be sent later I will.

I measured from the base of the brass to the bullet tip on 5 samples of what I was shooting prior as well as the 5 rounds of the glaser that I had left in the magazine. Keep in mind the glaser is a rounded tip polymer and the other range ammo I was shooting was flat tipped FMJ, so I'm not sure...
If these were stored in the gun I really don't think it was for very long as I would generally prefer some form of hollow point. I can't imagine they would have been unloaded and reloaded more than a couple times and that's probably being generous.

Also, I am sure the ammunition was at one time loaded in a defense gun that never left the house but for only a short time. Most of the time it was just placed with other misc rounds in a regular 50 round box that you would get retail ammo in. It was stored in a sealed green ammo bin.

It makes me wonder a lot about using those special high end bullets that everyone puts in their gun for carry but never get around to shooting so they can "save" them or just because they are so expensive. It makes me wonder if it wouldn't be better to just keep normal range ammo in my carry...
I do have a set of digital calipers that I can use to check any dimensions you want on the rounds I still have. Can you give me an idea of what to measure and what to compare it to?
WallyJJ
haha, no - don't be like that. I love the gun and I won't judge what happened until they report back. I haven't found any other things like this on the web so I don't think it will be a common thing. It carries really nice!
WallyJJ
I don't know. They said they would be sending me a shipping label. I am hoping there are instructions included. If not, I may call them before shipping it and ask them if they want me to include the ammo. I certainly don't want it!

Does COR-BON use Winchester brass? - 10mm Factory Ammo & Performance Discussion - AR15 Armory.com
Using my google-fu, this was the first link I found which was a forum discussing corbons use of different brass vendors.

I agree they appear slightly different. But again, I assume that picture is fairly recent, did they look that same way several years ago? I just don't know. I wish I still had the box. I think that at one time I kept them loaded and must not have had enough left over to keep the packaging...
I don't remember where they would have been purchased as it would have been several years ago. I only know that I don't buy reloads. I don't honestly remember ever buying ammo at a gun show. I don't like that ammo isn't sealed and you just can't guarantee what you are getting. I don't think...
I have no delusions that S&W is at fault or that they will do anything about it. Maybe they will tell me they think it was ammo related and help me to contact that group. No clue. If one of them offers to help replace it I would certainly take them up on it but I won't make any demands as I...
