      Southnarc ECQC

Still working through my notes and will probably post a more formal AAR once I have -- but, just wanted to chime in that this class was exceptional. Both in terms of material presented and as an audit of existing skillsets. I may not have liked everything I learned about myself this weekend...

2011 course schedule - John & Vicki Farnam, Rochester, IN

I took the instructors course in 2009. I would add that the class is as much (really, more) instruction in adult education as it is in shooting/fighting methodology. Some folks may conceive of an instructors class as an 'advanced-advanced' shooting class. That's not what this is. We did some...

Shivworks ECQC - March 25-27 - Nappanee Indiana

Deposit out; looking forward to training with you guys again. ..and suddenly Bix is tremendously motivated to hit the gym....

Impact Training Group Defensive Pistol 1

Several of the guys I train with (who've been to a variety of schools) have trained at USTC Midwest, and/or it's former incarnation, "The Site". They have uniformly positive reviews of the facilities and instruction. No doubt that SI provides good training (I am an SI alum) - but the 'spend...

Shotgun recoil management - Rob Haught (video)

Thanks JohnN, I'll leave a little space in the training budget for this :)

Shotgun recoil management - Rob Haught (video)

I would be very interested in this. The closest he's come in recent years is Ohio, and I considered driving out for that.

      AAR: Southnarc's AMIS Class

AMIS AAR March 19 -20, 2010 Elkhart, IN “Guys - this is a better options game.” TD1: We began promptly at 8am, dealt with the usual admin issues, disarmed, and launched into a discussion of the conceptual framework underlying the course. We first discussed bigger-picture issues related...

      24 Jul 10 - 1-Day First-Aid/Trauma Class

As did I. Excellent training and should be seriously considered by anyone who spends much time on a range....or in a car.....or in the kitchen...:) Regarding prereqs, we did a live fire block on anatomical targeting, which demanded some fairly precise shooting. I think that someone still...

      What instructor/school would you choose?

If that offer fell into my lap, I'd probably pick a Thunder Ranch four day course. Why? TR will be an expensive trip with travel, lodging, and tuition alone. The frang/lead free ammo requirement makes it probably the priciest option on my training 'short list'. Would be nice to have...

      What's up at Mindset Lab?

Sorry to hear that , Shay. Hope you're able to fit it back in to your schedule before too long. :)

Do you own a "Blue Gun"

      I expect you would :)

Do you own a "Blue Gun"

Do you do weapon retention/disarm training with working guns? Not taking a shot - I'm genuinely curious. It seems like you would get sliced to ribbons on the sights. I purchased my first blue (orange) gun because it was on the "required gear" list for a CQT class that did a lot of...

Do you own a "Blue Gun"

I own blue guns, inert training barrels, and have my dryfire targets taped to a Level II kevlar panel. Like Kirk, I have some experience with the legal system and a strong desire to stay out of it! :D

Shivworks – Armed Movement Inside Structures – March 20/21, 2010 - Elkhart, IN

This is why I'm really looking forward to this class. Thankfully, it's pretty easy these days to find competent instruction in marksmanship, manipulation, and, to a lesser degree, mindset. It is much harder to find a weekend class that focuses predominately on tactics. Now I just need to get...

Shivworks – Armed Movement Inside Structures – March 20/21, 2010 - Elkhart, IN

Sweet. I just mentioned, during a break at the range last weekend, how a Southnarc class was high on the 2010 training priorities list. Then I log on to INGO, and here this is :D. Couple questions: Does he run the MUC module during the AMIS classes? Any specific recommendations on Airsoft...

Let’s launch this ship - Mindset Laboratory

This is good news. I did a force on force class with Shay in 2005 at, I believe, the same venue in Indy. Excellent class and the location is very well suited to the training. Not sure if the schedule will let me get out for this one, Shay, but I'm glad to hear that your back at it and...

      Funny Little FoF Guy

Well, if we're doing a critical analysis of the video... :) Am I mistaken or does he intentionally sweep his training partner with a hot gun at 2:19?

Where are the Force on Force classes at?

Yeah, it's certainly not cheap - but it is in line with the tuition for many of the other traveling schools' weekend courses. At least with an FoF class, you don't have ammo cost, which can sometimes exceed tuition these days.....

Where are the Force on Force classes at?

Looks like Tactical Response is running 'The Fight' in Seymour in September: Tactical Response I did the class a while ago and found it to be a pretty significant learning experience.

      Midwest Training Group?

New member here, but I see some familiar faces: I trained with Shay in Indy in 2005, I've run into Rhino at a couple classes at Sheriff Ken's place, and I was regularly corrected by Glock 21 at a Farnam class earlier this month :) In any event, I've done several classes with MTG and they run...
