Have to wonder if the tooling is still laying around somewhere in a warehouse down there. It'd be cool to see these imported, or the tooling aquired by an American company. I bet they'd sell here.
Edit: Looks like they were only prototypes, not production rifles.
A friend of mine sent his Saiga 12 down there, they worked it over really well, runs the 20rd drum like a top now. They gave him a tour of the shop and invited him to go shooting, they're really great guys from everything I've heard.
A few years ago there were a lot of DRMO A1 and A2 uppers that were given to police departments, who sold them to buy M4 type uppers. There was guy from Michigan selling them at the Indy 1500, they ran ~$300 to $350 for the complete upper. Everything was in VG condition, well worth the coin. All...

I would definitely avoid test firing it at a public range. Never know who might be around if the trigger malfunctions and double or triple taps. Better safe than sorry.
It was NIB, he just picked it up from a show that weekend. He proved beyond a reasonable doubt that he did not modify it, and the related charges were dropped. He is in jail for selling without a FFL License, not possession of an illegal machine gun.
