Common bolt gun calibers to collect.

I want to start buy come basic bolt guns in the more common calibers. I know there are tons of different rounds out there, but I want the common ones I can buy at a LGS. I want a good variety from .22 on up.
What are some recommendations for calibers. I know 22, 22-250, 223/5.56, 308/762x51 are some. What are some others?

if the common ammo is the important thing, get a bolt action .30-30, .357magnum, and .44 magnum

Are you wanting just American calibers, or surplus calibers as well?

You should just pretty much go down the list of popular milsurp bolt actions...

K98, Mosin Nagant, Enfield, M1903, K31 to name a few.

7mm remington and 7-08 are pretty good. Also .243 is sometimes the smallest bullet that areas will let you shoot deer with.

Well, my son & I have 22 LR, 22 Mag, .223 / 5.56, .243, 30-30, .308, 30-06. and in Military rounds 6.5 X 55, 7.5 X 55, 7.62 X 54R, .303, 8MM Mauser in bolt action rifles. + Semi-auto 7.62 X 39, 30 carbine. You can also purchase several pistol calibers including 44 Mag, .357 etc.

I like this list, too. The only difference is I don't have/want/need a .308. Everything else can be shot all day inexpensively and with little-to-no recoil.
