Shooting what I already had stocked. And as available stocking more. I've picked up quite a bit from Walmart lately by just walking by the ammo case each time I'm there.
Still shooting as much as usual for this time of year (about twice a month or 500 rounds). Too cold for this old phart! I am in good shape as far as components right now so when it warms up a bit I plan to return to my normal two to three days a week at the range (usually about 200 to 300 rounds per session).
I'd love to test out an upper I've pieced together, but I have only 300-400 rounds in reserve. And there is no way I'm going to resupply at current prices.
So I wait. Probably for awhile. My fault in not buying sooner.
I do have plenty of 22lr to last me into next year. So that I'll shoot.
5.56 no
9mm no
.45 acp sparingly
.308 sparingly
.22lr yes
.38/357 yes
Maybe even buy another 22 rifle if it strikes my fancy.
I don't shoot as much. Here all the ammunition places in town are sold out. For example even Walmart had only .380, 22-250 and 30-30. It shows the guns that people arent shooting around here. I guess nobody likes James Bond, shoots coyote, or does SAS.
I am a member at a local Indoor range (pops) so I try and shoot/practice with 50 rds of .40 or 9mm every other thursday. I have over 1000 practice rds saved of each caliber, however I replace what I shoot or dont go if I cannot find it (9&40), I hit Emmerson 465 walmart/fishers 96th st walmart, and Pendleton Pike or Noblestucky walmart stores if I am about. I buy when I see it in stock, most of the times, maybe six out of seven attempts I am skunked!
I've not been shooting for a few weeks now - down to under 500 rounds of 9mm, and 200 rounds of .38. I'm trying to build up my supply a little at a time as I run across it over these winter months.
I have a good stock pile of components and ammo so I'm good for weekly range time for the next year or so. Stocked up last year because I didn't trust either Romney or Obama when came to gun rights.
