It would be worth your time to take a trip to Indiana gun club, and check out their used O/U guns. They have several racks worth. Lots of good advice from them as well.
family and I purchased 4 of them last time they were on sale. None of us have had any problems with ours, they all shoot great. This is a great way to get family or friends on their way to building an AR.
CCI 450 Small Rifle Magnum Primers for CCI 400 Small Rifle Primers
I somehow managed to get 2k CCI small rifle magnum primers. I need CCI small rifle primers.
FTF in the Lafayette area please.
The only reason I would go with an over under 22/410 is if you do a lot of small game hunting. Going with a 10/22 youth would really be the way to go, you can grow the rifle with the kid. The single shot magazine is a great solution also.
Edited to add: I also think the Henry levergun mentioned...
A nice compromise is to go with a Dillon 550 BL. The setup does not come with the auto prime or powder drop eequipment, so it is reall just a fancy turrett press. Once you get more comfortable with the process, and start worring about production, you can drop the money on the priming system and...
Is your press moving or is the surface you are mounted to moving? I had to reinforce my bench when I went to a strong mount ( for my 550) due to flex in the worktop. You might want to check that. Also, how hard are you pressing once you get to the bottom of the downstroke? Once you hit the...
I have built several so far. A few tips:
1. Determine what you want this gun for. IE-bench shooting, a shorter lighter carbine, competition shooting, etc.
2. Determine a budget. You can build a basic carbine for easily under 700 dollars with some of the Christmas sales coming up. Or you can go...
LOL all the same people at all the same shows. I really don't understand why people expect something different? The show wasn't too awful bad in Lafayette today, but then again, I pay my 5 bucks to blow an hour checkin stuff out.
Another +1 for Konus. I picked mine up a few Black Fridays ago from Midway, and it works great for the price I paid for it. A few of the service rifle people I shoot with have them as well. They are a great budget optic.
Federal GOld medal Match 168's have been the best performing ammo for me on my 24" LR-308/ I am pulling 3/4" 5 shot groups at a hundred yards, using a scope and bipod. I have been working on replicating that result using Varget and sierra 168's. I know a lot of other people that are very happy...
Does the OP have all the equipment needed to reload? His comment on "not as accurate as factory rounds" makes me wonder. If you are a reloader, I see no reason to go purchase ammo already made, as long as you can find the components you need to produce the ammo yourself.
Almost all of my amo...
Could you expound on that statement? When I first got into reloading, I got the RCBS small base X dies. I do not use the X die funstion, but I really like the small base, it seems to work better for me. I was told that the small base overworks the brass tho.
