Excellent write up. I have a similar experience. I shoot a Glock 22 and purchased a Lone Wolf replacement barrel. I initially had failure to feed issues and polished the feed ramp. I did nothing with the chamber.

Petsmart is a good place to find both walnut and corn cob. The Corn Cob that I have purchased has been very course and I found that the tumbling action is not a active as when I used walnut. I have now resigned the corn cob to soaking up oil spills in the garage.
Glocks are reasonably priced reliable guns that are easy to service, maintain and upgrade. There are probably other guns that fall into this category as well.
