The shooting sports have traditionally been the most under-covered sports in the Olympics. I can't prove this, but have been watching since the late sixties and that's my take on it.
Cut the bottoms off and make brush leggings, or cut them up for patching sub-caliber balls in your musket! Yeah, I use denim for shooting .69 cal balls in my .75 cal Brown Bess. Works great! You guys do have muskets, right?
