I don't think the Walmarts in IN are union. So, they could just be terminated. I know there are a bunch of union bakers looking for a job right now Indy.

Considering the riots that happen when the doors open on "Black Friday", I can't imagine what people will do if they find out that either the Walmart is closed due to no employees, or people head to the checkouts and there are only two open, staffed by managers who don't know how to run the machines.

    It could get ugly.

I agree with fullmetaljesus that they should be happy to have jobs because from what I hear, Walmart benefits are pretty good.

Union means little when it comes to keeping your jobs. Just ask the 18,300 formerly employed union workers from Hostess. Walmart sucks for being open on Thanksgiving day, and I won't buy one damned thing there on Thursday...but I may have to go in and buy ammo if the Twinkie Zombies come out in full force.

Walmart will replace their workforce in about 12 hours. Walking out is futile.

I got my shopping done early...I did the black Friday thing for years, untill....about 5 years ago I camped out in front of Walmart to get a 50 inch TV for 400 bucks. I was the 4th person in line...only 3 of us wanted the TVs...we all bonded took turn getting warm drinks, going to the potty and sharing stories and food. The manager was very nice he came out and told us where everything was that we wanted...the TV was right in the door...Before the doors opened at 6 am the crowd started forming at about 4:30...some woman came up and tried to cut into the head of the line...told the guy FU there is nothing you can do you won't hit a woman...he said no But myself and another woman who had been out in the cold since 5 pm on Thursday said well we can and we will. She was shamed to the back of the line. When the doors opened about 8 inches I was slammed into the partially unopened door...was dazed for a moment but the crowd moved me inside....there was the kid who had been inline behind me standing with a leg and arm on 2 tvs yelling hurry I got you one...bless his heart, If he had not did that I would not have gotten one. People tried to just take it from me in the store...and to top it off I got in a fight while waiting to check out....A black woman just come and cut in front of the guy in front of me....I first ask was she with him and he said no...I then ask the guy in front of her if she was with him...he said no. So I ask her to please don't cut in front of us that has been waiting...well after several racial slurs at me...and me telling her to back off before I pulled her weave out along with her hair....a black couple behind me jumped in and started on the woman...the cops came over and she tried to say she was in line and I started problems with her...well everyone said she was lying and she was escorted out of the store....while she was being led away we started singing Jingle bells and before we knew it we had everyone signing with us...made the line go much faster. It is better organized at Walmart now...but I am just to old.

I was under the impression that Wal-Mart was strongly against unionization and didn't allow its workers to unionize? I recall that stance costing it space in some European countries a few years back.

This. Anyone in Indiana who walks out will be terminated for job abandonment. I have terminated a few for it before.

I think Wal Mart should be providing crowd control.
Maybe a couple strong bouncer types, with shot guns, might just calm the crowd.
A crowds energy can feed off itself.
Keep the energy from building, there is no feedback.

BS, please explain. Unions have been trying for years to infiltrate Walmart and have not succeeded thus far. You think their employee training program is that intense that it keeps people from realizing what they can or cannot make doing certain work?

I will tell every one here right now how simple it is. If I need money to pay my bills and eat I will get a job at McDonalds and another at Burger King to make ends meet if I had too. I would cut 10 yards a day for $5 each if I had too. I would not look to anyone else to satisfy my needs, ok maybe a woman
