Using one's property as a weapon? So, that really happens? Go figure.

Bullets pass through walls now? When did this start?

I read on INGO that we can just wave guns around because the Four Rules are old and I am too cool to follow them.

    "cleaning" uh huh...

I wonder how many of these "cleaning accidents" are really just bubba lacking the ability to keep his paws off of the D!@# gun.

It shouldn't matter. Whether cleaning or coon-fingering, he should be charged with an appropriate crime. He negligently discharged his firearm, and not only endangered others with deadly force, but caused actual harm/injury.

For me personally, I don't start cleaning my gun until it's been cleared and field stripped.

I'm not sure who these idiots are that think pulling it out of the closet or gun safe and pointing it at the wall counts as being in the process of "cleaning it."

Exactly, mine are field stripped, if not even further disassembled before I begin to clean.

    Mental note:
Keep a bag filled with cleaning supply and trash: dirty patches, newsprint sloshed Hoppes, etc.

This way I'll be ready to set the scene when I "accidentally" shoot my wife or neighbor with the annoying dog.

Wait, Am I typing this out loud?

So just what is the "cleaning" process here? Did he spray it with windex and wipe it down, then he'd just gotten to wiping the trigger and let the boom out?

Usually I'm with you, but I haven't seen anyone saying that the four rules don't apply or are old and antiquated or anything of the sorts. I would say all, or maybe I just have a bad memory, INGO posts that I have seen lately are right there with you that the rules are important and we should all follow them.

I'm on my phone at the moment, or I could link some pretty recent threads, but yeah, there is usually at least one member who shows up in these threads to say it isn't unsafe to do dumb stuff with guns.
