Would you feel the same way if someone infected your daughter with AIDS?
I don't have a daughter, but I don't imagine my politics changing significantly if I did. It takes two to tango.

I could bounce a hypothetical question back at you. Would you feel justice was done if your daughter was sent to prison for 8 years for not telling her worst secret to the guy she was dating?

We're discussing the legality of this in this thread.

I know a guy that I used to run around with who got an STD from a nasty girl he decided to mess with on the side from his girlfriend. He ended up giving it to his girlfriend and when she found out she had one and confronted him about the STD he then blamed her for giving it to him. She being the apparently slow learner she was actually felt guilty and APOLOGIZED to him:n00b:

The Airman KNEW what the consequences of his actions were. The Military is different from the Civilian World in that YOU are responsible for YOUR actions. UCMJ is firm on this matter. I actually think he got off fairly lightly with only an 8 year sentence.

One of my wife's friends has genital herpes. She has sex regularly and never tells any of her partners that she has the STD. Her attitude is that the man who gave it to her never said anything so she doesn't have to either. :(

And I would not be opposed to any of the People who may have contracted that from her smacking her around a little... :D

Someone needs to put a bullet in that sack of :poop:'s head.

    What a nasty whore.

To answer the question, yes, I would not mind if legal action be taken if some piece of :poop: knew they had a disease and were purposely trying to spread it.

And I'm asking your personal feelings. You've never had much problem expressing those before.

Would I be happy if my daughter went to prison for 8 years? No. But I spent their entire life teaching them personal responsibility. They know there are consequences to their actions. Not that they always do the right thing...

If your daughter were laying there...dying of complications from AIDS...would you personally not want them punished?

i will say this though....all the people on those Valtrex commercials look pretty happy and healthy- always smiling, canoeing, hiking and stuff.

I don't do any of that stuff and I don't have genital herpes. Maybe I'm missing out.

Its only a few break outs a year. It isn't like the worst STD known to man...K.I.D.S., now I wouldn't want to get burned by that one.

    Where's the bacon?
If I found out I had a STD, I wouldn't have to tell my partner. She's not the only woman I've ever been with, but we've been married long enough that if I have it, I got it from her. Note that I'm not worried about this in reality.

In the hypothetical here, honestly, I'd have to say I'd be celibate.

DH: It took an incredible amount of guts to tell what you did. FWIW, from what I know of Rhino, he was being sarcastic, not serious.

Rambone and Public Servant: Re: wanting revenge on the SOB who gave that #@%$ to my daughter, yes, I would want it. That said, though, would taking revenge on him save her or make one da*n bit of difference in her suffering? No, it would just put me in a prison cell and probably expose me to the same disease from someone who also couldn't care less. What purpose would that serve? As for legal revenge, i.e. putting him in a cell... So what? What does he care? If he's already got AIDS, by the time the courts finally heard his case, he'd likely already be dead anyway. That's the problem with a death sentence... you have nothing left to lose.

As for the Valtrex commercials, you guys remind me of the two young boys who went into the store to buy a box of tampons. The clerk thought it a bit odd and asked them, "You boys buying these for your mom?"
"No sir", one replied, "for ourselves!"
He looked at them, puzzled. "Why would you want to buy these?", he asked.
"Well sir", the other answered, "we saw this ad on TV that said if you use these, you can ride horses and swim and all kinds of fun stuff!" :lmfao:

Bill, I've always said I have a very short list of things worth going to jail for. That list may have just grown by one thing.

    Just my :twocents:, of course.

At risk of ruining my reputation by waxing serious for a moment . . .

I think we should probably categorize potential responsed by the nature of the STDs, because the consequences vary dramatically from embarrassment and mild inconvenience to a lifetime of pain and shame to potential death.

Keeping something secret that you can cure with a shot of antibiotics is one thing. Willfully exposing someone else to a potentially fatal disease without their knowledge and consent is a heinous criminal act in my opinion. The latter would include HIV and most strains of hepatitis.
