Yellow Ribbons

When I was a kid during the Gulf War I remember putting yellow ribbons around trees with my mom. I honeslty think I'd forgotten about this until tonight while watching a music video on youtube.

Why isn't it done anymore?

A lot of people did it when we first started in on A-stan and Iraq. Many people put magnetic ribbons on their vehicles.

Why it's still not done? I think most people just got tired of the duration. It's been almost 9 years now that we've been in A-stan, that is a long time, that is longer than we were in WWII. I think people just lost the drive to go out of their way to do it. They likely still have the feeling in their heart, but no drive to go through the motions anymore.

I still have a 101st Airborne Division ribbon magnet on my truck. It would be there even if we weren't at war.

Duh...I was thinking of the magnetic ribbons. I don't remember anyone putting out ribbons at the beginning of this war but it was probably just my area.

People still do it around the carmel area, or at least they did after we took off after 9/11

In my area, kids were swiping them off of vehicles or they simply fell off. People got tired of replacing them.
