Those little boats really did what they were made to do, they inflicted heavy casualties against "superior" forces. They truly helped us win wwII in the pacific.
That would be awesome to get that here in Evansville. We do have a LST that was docked and turned into a museum. They even do a small reenactment every year for it.
It would be hard to imagine a time when such large, devastating ships like the ones that served in WWII will ever sail again in numbers. Of course, modern warships have more destructive firepower in their own way, but there is something to be said for those old ships bristling with guns of all calibers. And, of course, the old battleships.
This reminds me...
You see those young men all those years ago, who turned into old sailors and who fought for our liberty and freedom. Those same men who changed a Nation. That was their time.
THIS IS OUR TIME.
Time for us to tell them boys in Washington to take their socialist, liberal, muffin padding, God save the Queen big brother agenda, and shove it up their dark pudding hole!
Make changes now. Let your voice be heard! BE A PROUD AMERICAN AGAIN EVEN IT MEANS BEING CALLED RACIST OR RADICAL!
Great find
I think the world forgets what a debt we owe to the the men and women of "The Greatest Generation" and that many do not get the respect they deserve for there deeds in times of war
I know I thank them and cherish the stories they are willing to share
If you can read Tom Brokaws book titled " The Greatest Generation "
I believe You will look at the older generation in a new light
I remember driving over the Coronado Bridge in San Diego in the mid-80s and seeing a bunch of PTs in 'moth balls' in the harbor. I wonder if they're still there.
