I didn't notice much difference when I was shooting a G22 and my G23. I had occasion to shoot my G27 side-by-side with my wife's G26 and the recoil seemed to be about the same. Wish I could afford a G21; I've shot one before and really liked it. For some reason, I could never hit squat with a 1911 the few times I've shot with them.

If you ever get the chance, try-out an M&P 40c. I have the full-size and the compact and I swear the 40c shoots as soft or softer. Sounds strange I know. Follow-ups are amazingly quick and easy with the 40c. The felt recoil of the M&P 40c feels comparable to the Ruger SR9c I recently sold.

If you like the .40 S&W, you'll love it's big brother.

10mm, when you care enough to send the very best.

Beat me to it. Was gonna say, you think .40 is snappy, go try 10mm.

Actually, I would buy some high pressure .40 cal from Buffalo Bore or Cor-Bon and try it out. Those are some real whompers.

    Doubletap 180gr JHP at 1350fps. That's 728 ft/lbs of energy.

A few years back, I brought my G20 out to a steel match. Half the time I'd hit 1 plate, and 2 or 3 would fall! And that was "weak" 10mm - 180s loaded to only ~1200fps or so. :D

I bought a G-20 last year+I can say the 10 does have some snap. Also got a Lone Wolf .40 S&W barrel for it. The .40 IS much milder of a caliber..Bill.:draw:

My Glocks seem to rotate through trading circles for some reason, I can't stand it when I don't have one though lol. :): I have to say at this point I like the G22 best so far, I've had a G17,G19,G26, and now the G22. Like I said earlier though I wouldn't mnd having a G22 and G17, I like them both!

I totally agree. I've been working my way thru all the Glocks and always seem impressed!

I carried my 19 for quite a while until I shot it and the 23 side by side on some steel swinging targets. Man!! I would fire 2 rounds of the 9mm (Speer 124gr +p GDs) at them and they would swing back about 90 degrees when hit. Then I picked up the 23 and the .40 cal (180gr Speer GDs) and those babies would nearly flip the swingers vertical. There was a recoil difference but not enough to bother me or slow my rate of fire down. After seeing that I figured a BG would probably have a worse day if hit by the .40. I still love the G19 and will never trade it but I carry the G23. (BTW, I also sometimes carry a G27 on my ankle and it is very accurate and easy to hit with at 7 yards.)

40 in a full sized glock is uncomfortable.

In the 23 it's nice, because of the heavier spring. It really does have a more mild recoil than the 22.

10mm through my 20c with a 20 pound spring is like butter though... You'll have to give those a try if you like the 45acp, with the gun tuned right they feel pretty similar recoil wise but the 10mm has a bit more push. It isn't punishing at all, amazingly. 155gr 40S&W in a glock 22 beats up my hand worse than nuclear loaded 10mm in my 20.

I run WWB through my XDm compact 40. After I bought and shot the compact 40, I sold my 9mm that I had because I liked the 40 so much. I love that gun to no end, but now im in the market for another 9mm, lol...

I used to carry a G-22 on duty with a G-27 as BUG, off dut I carried a G-19. Funny because while I qualified with all three to carry, I just left the G-23 out of the equasion back then, Nowadays the G-23 I carry the most trading off with the G-27 more in the summer months. My g-19 sits in the safe, the G-22 in the trunk of the car, the G-23 or G-27 on me.

I use Federal 180 GR Wal-Mart range ammo, carry Speer 180 gr GDHP, and got a deal on Winchester white box for $11.59 a box of 50 (purchased 1,000 rds before store caught on to my buying 6-8 boxes at a time and changed price back to $19.99 a box of 50)................so enjoy your new friend I fire mine about once a quarter.
