My local Wally World doesn't stock Federal .22 bulk packs. Is Winchester a good substitute? I know most .22 ammo is good in most guns, some is so-so, and few are complete wastes of time and resources (Remington). I also know .22 firearms are naturally picky sometimes. Just wanting to make sure I get some good ammo.

I only have good luck with Federal, CCI, and some Remington loads. I have only shot the Winchester "333" pack, and noticed some loads were more powerful than others. I had one round that hit the ground about 15 yards or so in front of my shooting bench. I made sure there was no bullet stuck in the bore, then continued shooting them until they were gone. I'll stick to CCI and Federal.

Until fairly recently I have always stuck with the Federal bulk packs because they have always worked for me... I have recently tried the Winchester 555's and so far they ( 2 bulk packs) haven't been bad... They have functioned fine through a Walther P22 and (3) different Ruger Mark II series pistols...

If given the choice, I'd still choose the Federal's if available... The one I would not buy again would be the Rem Golden bullets...

Any more comments? If we go to Wal-Mart tonight we'll look for Federal but buy Winchester as Plan B if more people like it. Otherwise, we'll stop by BGF before heading to Atterbury and pick up Federal if they have it.

Stick with Federal when ever possible. CCI is also good but more expensive for plinking. I had a lot of duds from Win and Rem. Win was also noticibly insonsistent. Some went poof and some went bang while some didnt go off at all. I have all new Ruger varations both rifles and pistols and clean them after each range outing.

The last bulk pack of Winchester I had all went bang, but my 10/22 much prefers CCI Std Velocity, so it's been I while since I used any Winchester.
