Why the hate for Cyclists?

Can I drive my car on your bike path? No? Then get your bicycle off of my car path. It sounds too hazardous to drive cars on bike paths. But riding a bike on a car path...

I don't dislike bike riders. I dislike the unnecessary, dangerous hazard and liability they create for themselves and car drivers.

Probably 1/2 the posts in this thread have basically said the same thing, and yet here we are.

Nobody hates cyclists per se, we hate the A-holes that happen to ride bikes inconsiderately.

The problem with this post is the definition of inconsiderate. Most here consider the cyclist inconsiderate when they do not bow down, cower in the edge of the road, and generally get out of their way. Cyclist don’t hate motorists, just inconsiderate entitled A-holes that believe that cyclists must get out of their way and the even worse ones that want to kill them…

Doesn’t it work better for everyone if you let faster traffic pass, yourself included?

Faster traffic gets to drive faster, you get to ride slower, and everyone gets to enjoy doing their own thing their own way.

Win-win, right?

I think if you let more people pass you will get less hate. Try it out and report back!

I have read enough of your posts to get your message: “share the road” does not apply to bicyclists. You argue you have a right to inconvenience others on the road, but others have no right to inconvenience you. You support this argument by pointing to the technicalities of law.

It is exactly like the example laid out some 2000 posts ago by another user: it’s perfectly legal to fart in a crowded elevator, but the others in there with you aren’t going to like you for it.

If by “share the road” you mean get out of your way as most of the entitled motorists here do that is not in any way sharing. Those pushing cyclists, exercising their legal privileges, off the road on to side paths or trails are not sharing at all but rather taking freedom from cyclists.
