Israel won't attack. They're making too much noise. They were silent before taking out the reactor in Iraq and the reactor under construction later in Syria. They want somebody else to handle it through sanctions or diplomatic means.

The exact reason why you should be worry, everyone expects Israel not to make noise then attack, they may be counting on everyone thinking this exact scenario , then BLAMO they lower the hammer when least expected.

    True statement but... alternative ending

Im not a religious person but this has the signs of all the bad stuff the bible talks about. I say its time to run and hide.

Make your peace with your Creator now and its not about religion its about a relationship with your Savior! Glad to see you have read a little of the Good Book though

I still go back to this. How bad is a nuke explosion? Average, modern, deployable nuke.

People used to sit in Vegas and watch them detonated upstream. Vegas is inhabitable; always has been.

Some Japanese near the blasts lived long perhaps even normal lives.

Aside from heavily populated areas, where immediate blast and radiation would kill instantly and over weeks/months, are the long-term effects of those survivors and nearby locales understood or overhyped?

Just found a page that made me think of this thread/thought. How bad was the atomic blast?

Well, a story of some incredible survivors...

Rosary Miracle - Safe in the Midst of Hiroshima Nuclear Blast !! - The Tree Of Liberty

Rosary Miracle at Hiroshima - August 6th, 1945
There was a home eight blocks (about 1 kilometer) from where the A-Bomb went off in Hiroshima Japan. This home had a church attached to it which was completely destroyed, but the home survived, and so did the eight German Jesuit missionaries who prayed the rosary in that house faithfully every day. These men were missionaries to the Japanese people, they were non-military, but because Germany and Japan were allies during WWII they were permitted to live and minister within Japan during the war. Not only did they all survive with (at most) relatively minor injuries, but they all lived well past that awful day with no radiation sickness, no loss of hearing, or any other visible long term defects or maladies. Naturally, they were interviewed numerous times (Fr. Schiffer, a survivor, said over 200 times) by scientists and health care people about their remarkable experience and they say "we believe that we survived because we were living the message of Fatima. We lived and prayed the rosary daily in that home." Of course the secular scientists are speechless and incredulous at this explanation - and they are sure there is some "real" explanation - but at the same time over 55 years later the scientists are still absolutely bamboozled when it comes to finding a plausible scenario to explain the missionary's unique escape from the hellish power of that bomb.

Look for Iran to be destabilized internally.
It might be the only way to avoid a blowout. It's already halfway there.

Here's where my thoughts are as well. There are plenty of people there who are educated and willing to be a "normal" country. They are under a horrible theocracy and need covert help. I think we saw some of this in the "elections" there earlier this year.
At least this is my hope.
Of course actual nuke possession or a dirty bomb and all bets are off:draw:
