For a place that gets it's kicks calling each other fascists/liberals/anarchists over their political and educational microcosms, it's kind of sad we are not discussing this more.

2,000+ innocent people with no way to protect themselves brutally massacred for no reason by hundreds of terrorists and the world stands silent. A couple of journalists kick a hornets nest and get stung and the world is outraged...

I believe you are on to something Destro. Charlie Hebdo was "journalists" (cartoonists is more like it) for the most part. Plus, journalists get to go to Paris to cover the story. None of them want to go to Nigeria and cover the horrific actions of Boko Haram. The BBC seems to be taking the lead on a lot of stories not covered elsewhere.

Looks like they're on the move again and are attacking the regional capitol. Nigeria is losing the battle against these guys. They'd better step up their game or Lagos is going to be on their menu, sooner rather than later.

BBC News - Boko Haram crisis: Militants attack key city of Maiduguri

Dood...AFAIK, nigeria is a basket case. About 8 months ago, after the attack on that girl's school, some nigerian colonel went to inspect some troops tasked with fighting Boko Haram, and when he approached their camp, the nigerian troops OPENED FIRE ON HIS CAR. Sheesh...talk about your complete loss of morale and complete collapse of chain of command.

Remember that girl's school? Our illustrious "president" showed them what he was made of when he responded to this evil with a "Shock and Awe" Twitter campaign spearheaded by HIS WIFE! "Bring back our girls" indeed. Such a joke.

Seriously, Michelle, why don't you roll over in bed some night and kick the loser who's there and tell HIM to "bring back our girls". He can actually do something about it. He just doesn't want to. Coward, fool, loser, child. Disgusting...doesn't deserve to be called "President".

Perhaps in a related event, Boko Haram attacks a town in Niger for the first time:
BBC News - Boko Haram launches first attack in Niger
The Nigerian Islamist militant group Boko Haram has attacked a town in Niger for the first time, witnesses say.
The attack on the border town of Bosso was the group's second on a neighbouring country in as many days.
Its militants reportedly killed at least 70 people in an attack on the town of Fotokol in Cameroon on Thursday.
The Boko Haram insurgency has left thousands dead and displaced more than a million over the past six years.
