Yeah...I remember the thumb print and the letter of explaination.

Does anyone know when the state started issuing carry permits?

I believe it was in the 1930's, but it was not until the 70's when it was easier to get.... Kirk would know the exact details, I'm going off memory...
    :dunno:

Early 90's for me. I remember the large pink paper, (fold in half, twice) fingerprint in lower right corner I believe, and yes, the questions of "why" you need a LTCH. :ar15:

Glad that I got it too...Plowed snow during the "Blizzard of 78", and had a couple of times that I had to show that I was not "Alone"...Bill.

How long have you had a LTCH?

    I have been carrying since 1985 / 86.

Does anyone have a copy of one of the earliest licenses???
Just curious what they looked like.

I got mine in 1979 or 1980. I actually came across is a few years ago, and figured I might as well through it away. I wish I still had it though, as I seem to remember that it specified concealed carry.

1999. Age 23. Through IU-Bloomington Campus Police. In hindsight I'm not sure I would have had to do that, but the BPD person I spoke to informed me that because I was a student (it's what I stupidly revealed as my "occupation" when asked), I would have to get campus police to sign off on it.

The only significant difference between then and now is that a lifetime option wasn't available then and the question of mental health was far less intrusive and more on-point (adjudicated mentally ill instead of simply being in the care of an M.D. for mental/mood disorders).

The gal at the copy store wouldn't allow us to make copies either. :D
