I got a new choice for this challenge. I'd now use my Ruger Super Blackhawk .44. I mentioned above wanting one and i finally bought one. Now i can go win more wagers! Anywho, i just love seeing what people have to say on the long-range handguns subject.

Ruger GP100 with a 4" barrel...ground hoggin' at dad's farm from 100+ yards...open sights! Not a problem! With a scope...sure would have been fun to find out...I sold it over a year ago and am waiting to get a 5" version (the 6" is too heavy for me for long-term comfort)!

629 Classic .44 Mag with 1.25X 4 scope. Don't know how good I'd do at 200 yards but I've hit 4 out of 6 clay pigeons sitting on the backstop at about 125 yards! For the auto it would have to be my Springfield Champion .45ACP. I hit 2 of 7 on the pigeon with it at the same distance!

I guess for my first choice, I'd pick the TC Contender with the Super 14 .223 barrel.

For the non-TC/XP category, I think that would depend on whether I could practice and prepare, or if I had to go out and do it right now.

If I had to do it cold, I'd take a .22 up to 100 yards (S&W 41 or Hi-Std Victor) and one of the .357s beyond (6" S&W 19 probably).
It's been a long time since I shot .22 silhouette and I never did it that much, but enough to know a lot of .22s are capable of making 100 yard hits easily enough. I'd want a little more if I had to go farther.

If I could practice, I guess I'd take one of the AutoMags for the longer shots. The .357 AM one would be better, but I haven't shot it very much so I would take the .44 if given only limited practice. I haven't shot either beyond 100 yards (usually 50 max).
I think finding a good sight setting would be the trick. At that range, getting the right setting would take some trial and error. Holdover? Yeah, somebody a lot better than I am can try.

I have several guns that are entirely capable accuracy-wise, and I might handle it skill-wise on a good day. The limiting factor would be my eyes, the sights, and target visibility.

Wind? My wife's chili would create a new super lubricant.

I'd pull out my P95 and give it a try since its my only handgun...next time I'm at the range I'll have to make an attempt.

I'd grab my Dan Wesson 44VH6 with 2.5 power tasco. I have killed several ground hogs @ 125 yds. so I'm sure I could hit 12" plate at 200.

I can hit with my 327 smith &wesson at a 100 yards pretty quickly but I am shooting at a 2 foot wide steel plate. I can usually hit 8 for 8 if I take time. 7 if I hurry.

Put me down for a Ruger MkII with 10" bull and a red dot out to 100, then my Dan Wesson .414 SuperMag 8" out to 200. I KNOW the guns can do it, but as to ME hitting....well, you asked about the GUNS I'd choose didn't you?!

Hey Jason, tell me about that .327. I've been curious how that round performs. I called Bullberry this morning to see if they could rechamber a T/C barrel (now in .32 H&R) to .327. They'd never heard of it! Sad, it seemed like a good idea!
