1911 for sure. They have been proven in combat and you are able to customize them however you please (there are alot of options for upgrades for them) but there is nothing wrong with a .357 its ur call.

6 of 1 half a dozen of the other. If you don't have a 1911 you should have at least 1 :)

What sort of ammunition do you stock now? What sort of guns do you have now?

Can either make sure your collection is more well-rounded, and make sure that its more specialized; totally up to you. I don't think you will be disappointed by EITHER of your choices.

    Yea!
Both, yes I want both. But money wont let me for a while.

Right now I have just a black powder revolver.

I am leaning toward the 1911 cause I like to tinker with stuff.

If you're going on the cheaper end, go for a revover. 1911's are jam-o-matics on the cheap end of the spectrum and need to be broken in well in all cases. The wife(assuming) would be more comftorable with a revolver most likely due to the simpler manual of arms. Plus 357 is in your username.

A SN nightstand gun is NOT something to "tinker with".

Get into reloading and go with a 357...

You can cook up 357 for quite a bit less than 45. Box prices may not seem that way, but bulk cast bullets certainly show it.

If you are on the fence, price per round is something to factor. But come to think of it if you are ok with a 9mm 1911 then perhaps that would be the most fun per $ option in the long run.
If you are ever going to reload, my wheel gun buddies don't crawl around the range for brass like I do with the 1911.

If you get a .357mag...I would recommend getting a Ruger GP100...or maybe a S&W! Everyone I know who purchased a Taurus had to use that lifetime warrenty...and not to everyone's satisfaction!

And last time I met someone who used that taurus warranty, they had to use it 5 more times due to chronic barrel failures with a 357.

The guy was telling me about how great their customer service was, while I was wondering what he had been smoking to think it's acceptable for a barrel to fail 5 more times after warranty work.
