He's spoken and written at length against that. He knows that E.O.'s have their place but has been vocal against abusing that power.
Then he is screwed and I go back to a bridge too far. He is boxed in by the 2 party system. It is easier to break something from inside. We need 4 parties at a minimum.

After the first month in office and doing what he can on your list how does he fill in the other 47 months without building some kind of consensus?

Who is in his camp? Does he get along with Boehner? Anyone? Is he isolated the way he appears to be? My perception is that he is a long time insider who is very much alone, pushed to the outside edges.

Maybe looking at his major donors list would show who would line up to help him?

I think as president he'd be able to Boehner that he's full of BS and a sellout who's only still in office because the teaparty blindly supported most people with an R by their name. A public discussion between those two would leave Boehner looking like an idiot. There are times to side with the demacrats and RP would be able to get enough support from one side or the other depending on the issue.

Who would he replace Boehner with? Who is buddy? Who would he back to fill that slot? I know I am just asking for an educated guess here.

Does he even own a shotgun?

It's very telling when questions are taken as attacks. Someone's breath smells like Kool-
    Aid.

I want to know what you think Ron Paul would do and suddenly I'm an Obama supporter.

You guys would be the biggest burden a President Paul would have to carry.

Who would he replace Boehner with? Who is buddy? Who would he back to fill that slot? I know I am just asking for an educated guess here. At best we could hope that the good people of OH would replace Boehner with an actually conservative candidate. The usual dog and pony show would occur and the next republican establishment leader would be selected, but hopefully it'd be somebody better than Boehner.

Does he even own a shotgun? If Boehner had a shotgun and actually fired it I have no doubt that it'd make him cry. Then later on when he thought about firing the gun it'd make him cry again. I think it's in everyone's best interest that Boehner probably doesn't have a shotgun and just plays golf. (less crying)[/QUOTE]

Electing Ron Paul might send a signal to both parties that they need to re-think their positions less they lose seats in Congress. It could give a boost to those politicians seeking Congressional seats. Electing him would be a HUGE signal that the status quo is no longer acceptable.

Won't ever happen. Too many voters don't seem to even understand the issues and don't have a clue what any candidate is about. Most vote by tradition or who has the pretty smile. They won't be removing their heads from smelly, dark holes so nobody in Congress will have to either. As much as I think Ron Paul is the best option, I see far too many that prefer to vote by soundbites instead of putting in some work to understand the issues and stances of candidates.

I read something last night that said he owns a few guns but doesn't really talk about them because he doesn't want to come off as a hunter or a serious shooter. There wasn't any detail past that so who knows if he has full autos, single shot shotguns, a nice classy 1911 and some .22lr rifles, or a combination of them all.

He would have nothing to say about who the Speaker of the House is. That person is elected by the party with the majority in the House of Representatives.

Ron Paul would be the second coming of Andrew Johnson.

He could not abolish agencies or departments without Congressional approval.

If he vetoed enough budgets would be bound to the budgets that the Congress passed.

If his presidential record is like his Congressional record he would offer no legislation of note.

He would alienate every member of Congress.

If he offered officers / judges unacceptable to the Senate they would not confirm them.

He would be impeached and removed inside of 18 months.

We can argue about compromisign all day long. Who's done it and for what reason. The bottom line with RP is that he has stuck to his guns for his career with very few changes in how he votes. The worst that people can come up with is that years ago he voted for term limits and after it didn't pass he ran again. That's the extent of his inconsistency, and people call him a hypocrit because of it. That's the worst thing on his record for compromise or going soft and people try to act like it's a Clinton sex scandle.

I believe RP would bring the troops home, end the wars, and not start any new ones unless he absolutely had to. I also think he'd get to work on cutting every federal agency that he could and force the states to take care of themselves. I also think he'd get to work on the federal reserve and getting a full audit. In that order.

I suppose taking contradictory stances on when state sovereignty supersedes federal sovereignty wouldn't count. And neither would the proclaimed opposition to subsidies while simultaneously dipping his hand in the cookie jar? Or perhaps it's the holier-than-thou opposition to earmarks, but only in the final bill. His request for them to be placed into the bill as it is being written doesn't really count?

I also find it hard to take someone seriously if he can't practice what he preaches.

Why do you hate America so much?
Do you even care that you come across as an asshat sometimes?

Yes but he would not be without influence and power. That is the whole gist of this thread. How would Paul use it to accomplish his goals?

When I interview someone I try to find out who mentored them. More seasoned, you look at the birds of a feather theory. Who does Paul run with? I already know who is mentors were.

As for gun ownership. Remember, even Bill Clinton shot a duck, or at least shot at the duck. God that was sad. Paul is from Texas, right? I expect guns in his house. Perry shot a coyote while carrying concealed.

Why do you hate America so much?

Clearly it's because I'm a statist and a socialist and I hate Ron Paul with a burning hatred. Also, I hate freedom. And guns. And most of all, free speech.

Q: How does Ron Paul think he'll deal with the deficit?
A1: Why don't you ask Obama how he'll deal with it?
A2: Ron Paul will singlehandedly overhaul the federal government, end all war and threats of war, and restore America to 1790, only like 1790 with Wii and iphones and my parents' basement.
A3: Why do you hate Ron Paul?
A4: The republicrats are just as bad as the democons.
A5: What, do you want Bush back? He was just as bad as Obama.

Oh, come on. It was a joke. I get accused of hating America every time I criticize its government, kind of similar to how you were jumped on for asking a legitimate question.

I understand the gist of the thread. Ron Paul has absolutely no influence over the other members of Congress now. They know him, he knows them. If he got elected POTUS, they wouldn't suddenly change their mind about him.
