Recently been reviewing by "bug out" gear and what I keep in my trunk. Just curious as to what all is standard trunk junk and gear for my fellow ingo members. I'll post my list once I'm outta this dang lecture.

A trunk has FAR MORE than just a BOB in it!

    BOB
    Sleeping bag
    2 person tent
    8 person tent
extra water & food (on top of the 3 day set in the BOB)
    Hatchet
Full length Axe (only because one time the hatchet took too long)
Appleseed gear (which conveniently includes 500 rounds of .22lr)
    Extra box of handgun ammo
    Tarp
    Oil & antifreeze
    Paper towels
    Juggling Balls
    Tool kit
Shotgun and 45 rounds of ammo on bandolier
    Kbar knife
    Prayer book & Constitution

    What am I missing:
    Extra pair of boots
Henry survival rifle for the Appleseed kit

Mostly enough stuff to keep me going for several days no matter what and enough to get my way home on foot through pretty bad social disruptions.

Much of it has come in handy at one time or another!

Separating and limiting identification and maintenance documents to two folders/cases greatly increases space and speed up retrieval process should you ever need it.
(was broadsided in a borrowed car last winter. glove compartment had receipts far back as '87 along with every insurance policy and registration card since purchase. couldn't find either until after the police had left. Everything was cleared up but messes are no good for anyone involved :n00b:)

    It was borrowed < a chevy caprice>
Built like a tank, drives like a boat.
A very nice boat with a TPI V8 and smooth suspension :D
They loaded it with all the options when it was new, had fewer than 80k miles on it last I looked.
I wouldn't want one, but it was fun to drive~

My first thought was, "Wow, now that’s a backup plan".

    Bucky

Not sure what you mean by that...

Some might think it would be inadequate in a disaster situation. I would really like a Jeep Cherokee 4.0L, but I'm in the city, and when I needed a new vehicle, the Prizm was priced right, and was really all that I needed. Plus, if a disaster includes fuel shortage, I could get twice as far as a Jeep on the same amount of gas, even with the A/C going.

I believe he read it as "I have a small compact car in my trunk as my backup plan". . . .

    Get it?! Funny stuff!

    My mistake.

That would be an excellent back up plan.

I failed to find a picture from the muppet movie when Gonzo's car is upside down on top of Fozzi's driving down the road.

Newest edition to my trunk is a car jump starter. Jumper cables are great, but only if you have someone else around to get a charge from. With my new jump starter I am much more self reliant. The one that I got comes with two ac sockets and two dc sockets, so if the power goes out or even if I want power somewhere without a wall outlet I am ready to go. Pretty versatile. I got the version with the built in radio/flashlight/ac converter/alternator checker and jump starter. Pretty nifty! I even used it the first time last week when the guy next to me at target had a dead battery. Worked like a charm!

A GOOD pair of jumper cables, jack, tire, tow strap, hook, tire plugging kit, can of starting fluid, a cooler, in the winter there's a coat or a blanket.
