As an example, I worked with a guy in the navy who would wear gas mask's as casual wear. Why, freedom of expression. He wanted to, simple as that.

You laugh because I'm different, I laugh because your all the same.:D

Oooooh geeezzzzz lol...this so clearly states your attitude. With all due respect, regular people don't need to stand apart by wearing gas masks or tactical vests. We aren't trying to be DIFFERENT, we're just being ourselves. Trust me, the reason we're laughing isn't because we secretly envy your unique fashion sense lol xD

I wouldn't wear a tax vest as a fashion statement but I do like to wear my bullet proof vest on the outside like junior from Reno 911!

I probably wouldn't give it much thought if I saw someone wearing one.

I honestly don't care what other folks wear or don't wear, it's just not all that high on my priority list to assign that sort of thing any value or importance unless it affects me directly somehow.

Want to wear a tac vest? go for it, wouldn't bother me at all, just don't make fun of me & my Hawaiian shirts and we'll get along just fine.

Full disclosure due to my joke earlier. I do have a lbv (desert camo) and hsgi tacos (multicam) on the way. I'm going to take training courses in the future and got them primarily for that and of course shtf. If I was at an outdoor range or on private property with no tables I would use it there as well or if I was hunting but not as a fashion statement. I'm having trouble seeing myself take them to a range when there are tables right there to pile your stuff.

The other day I saw a man wearing a MOLLE vest with no pockets, pouches or gear at Journey's on 96th St. in Indianapolis' north side for no other apparent reason than fashion. He was wearing black pants (could be tactical/BDU pants) and kind of a grey/ACU colored MOLLE vest with a short sleeve t-shirt under it.

He definitely got a lot of strange looks from almost everyone in the restaurant.

BTW, he also did not appear to be in any kind of profession that would require him to even own a MOLLE vest. Maybe he played paintball, airsoft, or just likes to practice practical/tactical scenarios. But I'm pretty certain he wasn't in the military, or law enforcement.
