Look into job descriptions at Crane Naval. They are always looking for SW Engineers and tech writers, not for you AKA desk jobs but they have hands on testing jobs. Most go to experienced ex-Mil types.

Next is machinists at those rare companies that are growing, forget scoring those jobs, too few and far between.

No desk and guns = Border Patrol. Truly a growth industry

I would also consider the Coast Guard. They do a lot of Law Enforcement, plus it gives you a leg up in the Department of Homeland Security. There are a few routs you can go in terms of Law Enforcement.

    There are:
    Tactical Law Enforcement Teams
    Law Enforcement Detachments
    Marine Safety and Security Teams
    Port Security (reserves only)

They are the ones doing high risk boardings and large drug busts. Another upside to the Coast Guard is this. You get to spend more time at home with your family. You are not very likely to get deployed over seas. The largest cutters (ships), are usually only out for three months at a time. Also, you could look at the rate (job) of Gunners Mate. They maintain all small arms and any other weaponry on cutters. They also act as range instructors and range officers. Another option is CGIS (Coast Guard Investigation Service). It's the Coast Guard version of NCIS. They also escort the top brass, and Commandant when he travels. The Coast Guard has a lot of options when it comes to Law Enforcement. If you ever consider it, let me know, and I'll help you in any way I can. Also, basic training is 8 weeks long and is in Cape May, New Jersey.

    Honestly,

Get your degree and get a commision. I am one year out and the way things are looking on the job market, I am even thinking about going after a commision myself. I am prior enlisted, Marine Corps, and the money that a LT. makes now a days is staggering. Base pay for a 2nd Lt. is $33564 a year before your basic allowance for housing, which can be up too $1565 a month depending on location, so another $18780 a year in potential income. Now what most Lt's do is live in town with some other Platoon commanders, share the rent and bank the rest of their bah. Plus you get unbelievable benefits as well as a great career. I mean if you look at the pay charts, a 16 year Major is making $83712 a year, before his extra pay incentives. That is literally an awesome job. Generals are making above $13000 a month.

I always thought that too until I did a 12 month tour in Sinop, Turkey on the Black Sea Coast while I was in the Army and we had a US Coast Guard ship pass by once a week. It still looked like great duty though. They are apparently afraid of Cyclops though because they always got a little farther off shore when passing his cave. The Turks believe he exists.
