So tonight I'm sitting in the local Walmart parking lot waiting for the wife to buy a shopping cart full of crap when she said she just had to get "a couple of things" and its always good for a little lay-sociology observations:

The is no maximum speed limit for some folks as they drive through the lot.

At least half the people are driving while texting and/or talking on their cell-phones.

Kids like to play on grocery carts like they're in a demolition derby--in and around your cars.

At least 25% of customers are either unwilling or unable to push their carts back to the corrals after they're done with them.

Some people will endanger life and limb (of themselves and others) to drive through the slolem course of carts and parked cars to get to the exit before one or two other vehicles.

    People are interesting.

I think they should do it like Aldi's. Lock em all up and pay 25 cents to "Rent" the cart while in the store and then you get the quarter back when you return the cart to the corral. You never see a stray cart at Aldi's. :twocents:

A quarter would not keep me from leaving a shopping cart in the parking lot if I was lazy. I usually leave my quarter in the cart anyway, when I shop at Aldi.

I've always found that interesting that people will not walk usually a few feet to a coral in a Walmart lot but will walk all the way back to the building just to get their $0.25 back.

Frankly I'd think that if I was too lazy to walk two or three parking spaces over to return a cart, you could keep the quarter because I'm not walking across a parking lot. :dunno:

    Stop Stalking me!! :D

Were you the guy in the Ford Escort station wagon, driving the wrong way, against the grain, of the parking lane, that looked at me like I was crazy when I pulled to the side so you could get by?

(I forgot to add that one to the list.)

Pretty much the same thing over here, minus not pushing their carts back as you have to use a coin to get your card.

Common courtesy is becoming increasingly rare. Common courtesy is a virtue.

    Virtue = Moral excellence.

Driving while texting is becoming quite the 'thing' these days. Loose carts in the front forty at Wally World is typical. Drive slow in that battleground, and watch out for ALL the obstacles, and veehickles.

I don't move over. Stare at them till they back up.

    This!

I had a guy try to stare me down one time. I put the truck in park, pulled the keys from the ignition and dangled them in the windshield until I was sure he saw them then threw them on the dash, sat back and reclined my seat. It took him a couple of minutes for him to realize that there were people at the back of my truck loading it so I couldn't go anywhere anyway, and no I wasn't blocking anything or anybody.:rockwoot:

I like to back in to the spot, so for me this is the correct way! :D

Last time I was at Aldi's there was a homeless man taking carts back for the quarter/for lazy people. Pretty brilliant idea if you're hard up for cash, and much preferred to panhandling.

We were at Wally World yesterday and seen some of the same.
    1. A lady cut thru the parking stalls to get the handicap spot that was just on the other side of the row. Saving a good 20 feet of walking.
    2. A lady pushing a cart with (maybe 10 year old) kid standing on front of cart stepping up stepping down. With another kid a few years younger in the basket part with groceries piled around him. And a toddler crying in the seat part, being completely ignored by the mother save the occassional "shhhh".
    3. A very heavyweight gentleman chugging thru the store on one of those motorized carts with 3 cases of beer and a few boxes of little debbies. Gotta love Omerica and the entitlement system.
    4. And the funniest. We were loading the truck up a guy pulls into the stall next to us. Parks and sits in his car. We back out, leave. He starts his car and pulls on spot over to where we just were. What? 3 feet?

Always entertaining at Walmart. Especially the first week of the month.

I've heard that if you want to learn about the nature of man, observe them while they wait in a line.

I've also heard that you can accumulate the knowledge of a four year degree in philosophy, just by riding a city bus and staring out the window for a yeat.

I think we need to add Wal Mart parking lots to this pool of free knowledge. haha
