Will they go in and take him back? Seems likely with all the things they have done to their own citizens. Will pissing Spain off be that big to them?

    .
Maduro must be in a deep hole somewhere, it would seem that eliminating him would make most of the folks down there happy. They might be grateful if America slipped him a smart bomb.

This thread is nearly three years old. The OP was about running out of beer. In three years we've gone from no beer to 90% poverty, 25K Cuban troops protecting a dictator, and protestors being run down by armored vehicles.

I'd like to see a timeline, starting 5 years before Chavez until now. X-axis with dates of news reports: Chavez nationalizes everything, ran out of beer, no food, people eating their pets, protestors with homemade gas masks, people dying because hospitals can't replace equipment, people eating zoo animals, Maduro won't leave, aid convoys stopped at the border, people run down by armored vehicles. Y-axis: poverty rate.

I don't know who said it first: "You can vote yourself into socialism, but you'll have to shoot your way out of it."

Edit: Looks like John Hayward of Breitbart News.

Apparently, Cuba is facing it's own problems due to Venezuela's decline and has started rationing basic items (chicken, eggs, rice, beans, and soap). At least part of the problem is reduced aid from Venezuela in the form of subsidized oil:

Cuba Rations Food As Its Socialist Economy Enters Crisis Mode

What has caused these shortages has been a subject of debate. Cuban Minister of Commerce Betsy Diaz Velazquez blames the Trump administration’s stiffening of the trade embargo with the island nation.

Pretty sure the rest of the world can trade with Cuba. Why is the U.S. so important? Oh yeah, boogie man.

Also, why is it always someone elses fault when socialism fails? Ah, that wasn't real socialism.

Yeah, the strange limbo for Guadio all these months. And Maduro for that matter.

Part of me wonders if there isn't a coalition government on the horizon.

Maybe big media just doesn't want to talk about it.

Well, in fairness to the MSM, without blood, sex, or impugning someone's character as part of the story, not many people will tune in.

Back when it looked like shooting would start, there was money to be made. Back room politicking doesn't lend itself to 2 minute stories.

Is it? The country is pretty much in shambles at this point. They aren't as bad as Somalia, but they are pretty bad

Well, I guess it depends on what "is" means? Or "bite the dust", maybe?

Maduro (Chavez, Jr.) is still in power. Situation hasn't really changed all that much.

I've come to the conclusion that the primary reason for the stasis is that - as bad as things are - the most of the population isn't convinced that things will be any better with a regime change. They're sitting back, waiting to see who will win.

And the military must be similarly frozen. No one wants to risk the purge that would happen if one of these 2 men actually succeeded.
