    Eh, well, if you're retirement age, you probably don't have a lot of truck/car buying years left. Unless you buy new every 3 years or so. So you're probably correct on that.
    I'm 65, My trucks that I drive were built in 1999 and 2000, a motor vehicle is a really poor investment.
    I believe newer safer vehicles are for the wife with kids, dad drives a hooptie.
    The last new one I bought was 1985. Its not looking good I will buy another new one.

    That’s the way to do it. I buy it new and drive it until it becomes a money pit.

    I'm in the minority here, I guess. I love cars, always have. I never thought of a car as an investment; that would be silly. Saving all my life for family stuff, I couldn't indulge myself in new, fun cars. Now that my (pensionless) retirement is sufficient, I occasionally can.

    Wait a minute. Pensionless retirement. I learned in this very thread, without a pension, you'll likely be broke in retirement.

    How can you survive without a pension?

    And I agree. I like trucks, new trucks. If you can afford them and buy them right, support the economy and live life while you're alive!

    * A lifetime of living below your means
    * Savings
    * 401k/IRA
    * Social Security
    * If you're a person of faith, be generous
    * If you're not a person of faith, hang on and hope for the best

    What the heck did you mean by posting breakdowns of your pension checks and continuously asking others to do the same?!

    There are PLENTY of ways to earn a successful living and have a great retirement. Most don't involve a union job. I'm not sure you realize that.

    It'll suck to be a UAW member when they've sucked all they can out of the Big 3...

    Speaking of that, has there been any updates on GM or Stellantis?

    I have enjoyed cars/motorcycles all my life. I will continue to buy what I want as long as I can afford it. I have had a blast doing just that. :alright:

    UAW representation doesn't stop at just "automotive" workers.
    Casinos, Defense, Home goods, Agriculture, Schools, Plastics, Services, Legal, etc. Many industries have UAW tentacles reaching into them.
    The big 3 are just the most well known.

    Think of those industries as dues feeding ditches, streams, creeks and rivers all flowing to the UAW administration, to be dispersed as the leadership sees fit. If a local feels the need to strike, they only get strike benefits from the UAW international as long as the leadership supports the strike.

    You gotta pay if you want to play!

    That said, the last 3 of my new pickups were bought for 10-12k under MSRP, traded within two years...and paid for with my vehicle allowance....I lost zero dollars on them.

    Now that I'm back in a company car, my current Ram Limited (bought used) was paid for in cash and barely leaves the garage.

    But, deals can still be had for the savvy buyer. My current truck MSRPs for 83k today and can be had for 67-68k if you order it through the right dealer...

    I love cars too. I don't care to collect them though. Not that there's anything wrong with that. But I do have my toys.

    I posted proof of what a Skilled Trades Union worker could accumulate with the years working and what they will end up with. I notice a few of you here arn't happy with what I posted with what a Union Worker cam make. LOL
    I also noticed that you were one that posted a few times on how well he was doing with a paycheck and retirement funds, but even when asked prove it,
    you put up Nothing.

    No pay stubs, No 401 reports, Nothing.

    And not one Union worker here posted one couldn't on there own.
    Not once, you keep interjecting statements that just aren't true.
