I always carry JHP in my 9MM defensive handguns.
That being said, if all I had on hand was full metal jacket from a name maufacturer, I would load it up and carry it and not blink an eye. Best choice? No. Can I defend myself with a magazine topped off FMJ nine? You betcha........
In .45acp, I often carry hardball. Especially in a 1911 style pistol.
I think a lot of citizens overthink their carry rounds. If you have a reliable handgun, and reliable ammo, you have most of the problem licked.
