I had a Winchester '94 Trapper Carbine in 357 for awhile. I used 158 gr JSP MagTech factory ammo on a couple of deer in the 50-60 yard distance range. It did just fine. I am more comfortable using a 240 gr SJSP 44 magnum though so I got a couple...Ruger 77/44 and a Ruger semi-auto old-timer for the wife. Both 44's are deadly on deer and hogs out to a bit over 100 yards. Plus my backup handgun is a Ruger SBH 44 mag, so one round fits all when we go into the field.
