OSD provides staggering stats on AR-15 sales and its true dominance against all other special snowflake guns.

2/3s of all rifles sold in 2021 were AR-15s. Absolutely stunning.

The Internet Diletante's Battlecry of "but not an AR" rings completely hollow.

In the same way that the Model T was not the only car that ever got hot rodded, the sheer numbers of their production meant that the aftermarket of know-how and parts availability meant Bucket T rods were synonymous with hot rod for years. People are gonna be figuring out new ways to juice the Stoner formula for many many years to come.
And as praise to its utility as a platform other forms of rifle are now influenced by its design indelibly. I for one look forward to the day when we stop just trying to stuff the made-to-suit-an-awkward-task AR buttstock into service as a precision shooting control surface, but do enjoy my nearly universal MLOK slots and default picatinny optics mounting options.
