Why do armed guards always look like they're trying too hard

Like they've always got one hand on their gun-side... when it really doesn't need to be there. Carrying a gun is not hard. It doesn't require extra work or strain.

In the photo above it looks to me like they are trying to keep their jackets closed to keep their guns covered.
