Scotty is railing on newer Fords. He has a Lightening in to review some issues on just before the 9 minute mark.

Scotty did say though that the Lightening is "wicked fast." :lmfao:

The United States Department Of Energy Has Been Letting Electric Vehicle Manufacturers Lie To The Public About Their Efficiency

EV manufacturers can “Multiply the efficiency” of their vehicles

“There's a bombshell electric vehicle cheating scandal. Turns out Biden's EVs aren't near as efficient as they claim.“

“Emission cheating scandals, they seem to be a dime a dozen. Right? In the past 8 years, 2 major automakers were pursued by regulators for misrepresenting emissions records.

Volkswagen and Daimler paid billions in settlements and fines, but now 2 Washington attorneys say the government has its fingers on the scale When it comes to fuel efficiency of electric cars, it's the government cutting corners and misleading the public. Listen.

Well, it is a form of corporate welfare hidden tax on consumers. The whole point of this multiplier, they call it, is to Privatize the benefits so Tesla can sell credits and pass on those savings to its buyers, but socialize the cost.

Here's how it works. Under a Department of Energy rule, carmakers multiply the efficiency of electric cars by a factor of 6.67. Test a 2022 Tesla Model Y in a lab, and you'll find the vehicle getting the equivalent of 65 miles per gallon. But according to the government, the model y's equivalent fuel efficiency is 430 miles per gallon. Now wondering why you haven't heard about this before?

It's hidden buried deep in the federal register on page 36,987 of volume 65. Probably didn't see that, did you? But wait, it gets worse. Not only is the government helping companies exaggerate their efficiency, they're also handing out compliance credits on the basis of those scores, Which are tradable for, get this, cash. The credits amount to millions and millions of dollars.“

Blatant corruption. Lies, money, and power.

There is a solar farm going in down the road from us, about a mile away. Thousands of acres of farm land being used for it. I am assuming it operates on a similar scheme of credits and kickbacks. Maybe not, but corruption is so rampant that I assume it is there too. They are “leasing” the land from the farmers for 30 years at over 1000 per acre. I believe per month. I just don’t see how it makes money if some sort of scheme isn’t used.

Bingo! @Leadeye would say? “Follow the money”.

“To transition from fossil fuels to green energy, solar and wind companies get as much as 300 times more tax incentives than coal, oil, gas and nuclear. Solar alone is poised to get as much as $900 billion by 2060.”

Anybody notice that CA is cutting rates to homeowners (and businesses) for selling power back to the network?

75-80% reduction, depending on property type.

Seems an odd decision, given their push for renewables and how well suited much of CA actually is for solar vs, say, here. I've not looked into the details of it, though, having only a passing interest at best.

Perhaps the EV movement is due for a time-out. Recently, retired U.S. military officers expressed concern that the industry will be over-reliant on China. So, maybe we need to slow down, engage in greater research, take a broader view, and determine the best path if electric cars are the wave of the future. Falling in love with technology without understanding its full ramifications is a recipe for disaster.

Buying an electric car is all the rage among vast segments of our affluent population. They are self-described ecologically aware people; they are saving the planet from dreaded carbon-based fossil fuels. They are putting the money where their commitments are!

Yeah. Let's them feel like they are doing 'the right thing' without having to put up with the discomfort of doing 'the right thing'. If you're really concerned about the carbon footprint or energy use or whatever, buy an old Geo Metro or similiar **** box car. The energy used to manufacture it is a sunk cost, they get some 40+mpg, and even wear components like tires are light duty toy-esque models that don't take as much to make as the ones holding up the bigger EVs.

I mean, sure, you'll be dead if you have a head on collision with an adult squirrel. Merging on the interstate will require you being right with God. They are roughly as comfortable as a milk crate seat in a home-built go-kart. All your EV driving buddies will think you're a poor. Insta-gram girls aren't going to balance their coffee cups on your roof while they flash their thong at their boyfriend/camera-man. But you'd actually be doing 'the right thing' for minimal energy consumption, waste, etc.

If you just like EVs because you like EVs, this isn't about you so no need to white knight it.
