The US Senate has voted to extend the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund, which was at risk of running out of money.
In a 97-2 vote, the Senate passed a bill to continue compensation payouts through to 2090. The fund was due to stop taking new claims in late 2020.
Amazing that two senators voted against the bill to help 9/11 first responders.
A bit of a misleading way to frame it, as though they don't like the first responders.
I believe the objection was funding this until almost year 2100, which seems excessive.

Manufactured controversy. They were always going to pass it.
2 Senators wanted to take a closer look at tweaking the bill to rein in costs if possible and offered amendments to this effect.
