does anyone wear the ltch badge while they OC . is it legal. like a plain clothes LEO does

    Uh, no.

    our_badges.jpg

I supposed it is legal. I'd hate to be mistaken for a LEO, though.

If that guy is doing it for intimidation purposes then we all are right? I know thats not your argument but seeing this lame a$$ argument makes me :xmad:
You're right. That's not my argument. The police say they carry firearms openly for intimidation purposes, therefore we do, too.

The SLC police chief needs to be pimp-slapped.

I think it gives people the wrong impression. Law Enforcement displays badges, and I am NOT law enforcement. I'm also not too terribly concerned about "putting people at ease".

That said, I've not had a negative OC encounter yet, so a fake plastic badge doesn't seem to matter. How you dress (don't be a slob), how you carry yourself (be confident, not twitchy), and how you behave (polite) will make more of an impression. Add a badge, and folks might get confused! :D

it does seem to be an intimidation tactic but is that a bad thing . wouldn't intimidation be a good deterrent if a criminal is looking for a target . if he see's a gun he moves on , that sounds like a good tactic to me . then if you add the LTCH badge would give civilians piece of mind ( thinking LEO ) not saying you are but letting people think what they will. just pondering mind you

Truly. One of the most common questions (yet, interactions are still rather rare) is: "Are you a cop?"

Seriously??? Do I look like a cop??? :dunno: Okay, well, maybe a cop on donuts, but still... ...apparently, I don't need any help looking like a cop.

I would think that can get into impersonating, which i don't want to give that impression. I want people to know that regular everyday LICENSED people can carry if they choose to. After a great conversation with a Canadian gentleman in Gander Mountain it makes me appreciate our laws even more. Even though they are being attacked every day we are still better off than most.

I was listening to "Armed American Radio" this morning, & Ted Nugent came on. He COMPLETELY dogged anybody who open carries. He was seriously pushing the "Bad guy's gonna shoot you first" argument. He said over & over, "If you open carry-you're DEAD".

I like Uncle Ted, but he didn't mention anywhere that there were examples of this happening.

I like lots of people who can't support their opinions on this subject.

They think they're giving tactical advice that others just haven't considered...

they're wrong. They're spouting myths for the most part.

Sounds like Uncle Ted needs to hear some reasoned debate on the subject rather than just spreading these popular myths.

Examples have been given on INGO by Infiniti if not mistaken. But they are never enough.

Holy cow, I swear blood comes out of my eyes everytime this is brought up...

You expect Ted to say something coherent that makes sense?

Ted is against OC and always has been as far as I know, even before MI was a "shall issue" state.

I suggest he not OC then. I, however, will continue to.

Uncle Ted needs to stick his tame chicken hunts and playing his guitar and let people decide on their own how they choose to carry a firearm rather than deciding what's best

As for me I open carry at least one of my firearms at all times, I sometimes carry two. We have this talk about once a month at our firehouse and it seems like all the older more laid back guys only CC, and us little bit younger ones OC. Also to me alot of CC people carry smaller firearms (not all) in there pockets, I hope they never have to act real quick. I dont know about you but I have put a small pistol in my pocket before and tried to pull it out real quick and fire an accurate shot, good shot however not real quick. I am former military and have been all over this world in good and bad, I OC because I believe it makes you less of a target. For those people out there that think that are better, quicker, got bigger balls than I, and believe they can over take me or even scare me. MAY GOD BE WITH THEM. I'll feel sorry for the family.

It sounds like your "younger ones" bravado & belief in invincibility is speaking in that post.

Remember, there's ALWAYS someone, better, quicker & scarier than you. Many times it doesn't even take that to get the better of you. Sometimes it's simply a matter of them being luckier.

There might be a good reason those "older more laid back guys" CC. Sometimes, with age comes wisdom...SOMETIMES!.

Just because someone doesn't OC it's no indication on the size of their...um...gun.

i will oc sometimes but 99% of the time i am cc law enforcement im my area likes to stop you alot when you oc and the are several stores that if they see you oc they will refuse service and call for the police at which time they will check permit escort you out the door and tell you to leave you gun in the car so its less of a headache to cc than oc
