I had someone do that with my wife's card. They used it at 4 different Walmarts for gift cards within 1 hour for over $400. These Walmarts were over an hour away from each other. The bank refunded our money.

It was out of her normal routines for that account, so it raised a red flag and they were all denied. At least I will not have to clean that mess up.

Unlikely she is attempting to use it in Colorado.

My debit has to be cleared to use out of state. When we rolled on vacation the wife had to call and get both accounts cleared for out of state use. They wanted an itinerary of the trip as in states and days we planned to spend there. Pretty secure.
