    Just had a knock on my door... I have a real nice storm door, supposed to be crow bar proof, and it was locked so I opened it with a gun in my hand.. The guy stuttered and asked if this was 4701... said.. nope next door. He left and went next door. They knew him

    yes, he walked right past them as he came up the porch steps.. and they are also on the mailbox by the gate he just walked in. :dunno:

    for that very reason I watched him go next door and waited to see their reaction. I have good neighbors living there now.

    My grandpa served in WWI. no relatives in WWII.

    Did he make it back home?

    I visited a cemetery in the US (in Indiana) and it was really neat to see some soldier's tomb (I dont remember how I noticed they were soldiers) and see by their date of death that they made it back home.
    On the tombs around here they sadly all have the same year of death.

    Yes he did. I don't know much about where he was stationed though.
