I used to key locks in a former job, many moons ago. I still have keying & pick sets for Kwikset & Schlague Locks, but it would take me a few minutes to remember what to do. I worked that job 1985-1990.

Some Schlage locks are harder because the key hole is so small. I actually need to buy some Slim picks to be able to pick my deadbolt at home.

I do remember that, even back then. Worked with another guy doing the keying. I could never pick a locked up Schlage, I'd just hand it to Frank.:D

But based on that, I have always used Schlage locks on my houses.

Yup, after learning that I'm putting them on all of mine in the future.

Although, now that I think of it, I have used that keying kit about 5 years ago. My current house was renovated before I bought it in 07.

After I bought it, I took the locks apart to remove the "builders key".

The builders key is not supposed to work after the owners key is used, but I have seen that system fail.

Gawd I'm so out of shape. My body feels broken from all the shoveling I did yesterday. Now I'm supposed to drive across town and do the same thing at the in-laws. This promises to be fun.

Those do a really nice job. The station down the street was using one just like that when I was having my snow tires put on yesterday. It made for a really quick job.
I just dropped the bucket to make it stop.:D

and you are right very quick work...when wasn't making myself dizzy from doing donuts.:n00b:
